I GOT HIRED! I am officially training to be a host at Outback Steakhouse. I was hired last Saturday and my first shift was Wednesday night. Its not to much different than my job at Longhorn, making it really easy.
The responsibilities are the same, sit the guests, put them on a wait if needed, greet guests if you walk by them, and as needed assist bussers in cleaning tables. The only really big difference is that I don’t have a computer, so we have to continually be updating a board instead of the computer. I honestly prefer the computer because it keeps track of how long tables have been there and how long guests have been on the wait. With having a clip board with names I will have to be more attentive to when guests are coming up on the time we quoted them. Another change is the dress code. I now wear a white button up, black slacks, and a belt. Which means I can no longer wear my black dress, and need a couple more shirts for work.
Everyone working there is extremely nice and more than happy to help when I have questions. I definetly miss my friends and coworkers from Longhorn though.
As for serving I am not quite there yet. Outback usually promotes from within. So after being a Host for a little bit they may promote me. I just have to show them that I know what I am doing. Which is easy for the most part, only confusing part is their table numbers. I am hoping I can get those with in the next day or two before training is over.

You’re fantastic at your job so I’m sure they’ll love you! I can see why using a computer would be nicer especially in regards to the wait times. I’ll bet once the management at Outback see how awesome you are they’ll promote you to server!
I’m positive your friends at Longhorn are missing you! I need to get back over there, I miss their food. It’ll just be weird going without my favorite Server Assistant there!
